The Nueces County Hospital District helps the Nueces County community live happier, healthier, more vibrant lives. Created in 1967 by the voters of Nueces County, we are the local public entity that provides access to high-quality care everyone needs to get well and stay healthy. We work with a network of partners to eliminate health disparities and create a community of wellness.

We offer specific information about the county’s indigent health care program, the Nueces Aid Program, that the Hospital District funds and administers.  This program provides state-mandated health care services for qualified low-income and low-resource Nueces County residents who meet program eligibility criteria. The website offers program application information; these application details assist county residents, family members, advocates, case managers, citizens, community health workers, discharge planners, health care personnel, navigators, neighbors, social workers, and others in assessing whether or not individuals qualify for the program. By calling (361) 902-4855 applicants can receive assistance with the program's application process and obtain answers for any application-related questions they might have. Also at this website, potential program applicants and others are able to see a list of the required documents that must be submitted along with a program application. Click Apply for Services to access the program application and see additional application-related information.

The Hospital District also serves as the designated Anchor Entity for the Regional Healthcare Partnership, Region 4 (RHP 4) that is sponsored by the Texas Health & Human Services Commission in accordance with a Waiver granted under Section 1115 of the Social Security Act (Texas 1115 Waiver) by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
